Exhaust Repair

An exhaust pipe is connected to the manifold or header in order to carry gases through a catalytic converter first and then to the muffler. In general exhaust systems on "V-type" engines the exhaust pipe is planned such way that is to accumulate the exhaust gases from both manifolds using a Y-pipe. Those vehicles that have dual exhausts have a high performance exhaust system coming from each of the manifolds. They are in its part connected via an H-Pipe. After passing the Y-pipe or H-pipe exhaust gases go through a catalytic converter. It is designed to reduce exhaust emissions. Then the exhaust can pass through a series of exhaust systems, flex pipes, resonators, mufflers, and only after that it will exit through the tailpipe.

If a catalytic converter fails, they usually clog up with and stop the current of exhaust gases from getting out of your car exhaust system. It may produce performance problems and make your exhaust fumes foul smell badly. Sometimes in some very difficult situations it will even prevent your vehicle from starting. When you replace your catalytic converter you should make sure that you replace your vehicles oxygen sensor as well. A badly working oxygen sensor can cause failure of your catalytic converter. We recommend you to replace oxygen sensors every 60,000 miles.
